The battle of the bots begins!

Open exclusively to K12-powered students from 4th grade through high school, the K12 Robotics League competition is back for its 5th year, and it’s bigger than ever!

What is the K12 Robotics League competition?

The K12 Robotics League is where students get to build and flex their STEM skills in a virtual competition with their very own virtual robot. We see growing participation each year, so if your student is interested in tech, this is their chance to explore that world, and maybe even win prizes!

There will be an Initial Friendly Challenge, where each winner per grade band gets a $25 e-gift card. Winners of the 1st Round Qualifier will receive a digital certificate, and winners of the 2nd Round Qualifier will be invited to the in-person national competition in June 2027!

National winners in each division will receive $250 per team member, alongside a medal, certificate, and serious bragging rights.

Why join our robotics competition?

The K12 Robotics League is a great place to build and hone essential STEM skills through hands-on challenges, guidance, and training resources. It's also accessible to more students than other similar high school robotics competitions, with the Virtual Robotics Toolkit (VRT) costing only $55 for a full-year license.

The more you participate in the league, the stronger your career-ready skills will be in areas like critical thinking, project management, computational reasoning, and team communication.

For teens who are considering college, the league and its competition also make an excellent addition to college application portfolios.

All our participants also gain valuable friendships and social opportunities while working alongside peers with shared interests.

How to Register

Any K12-powered student in grades 4 through 12 is eligible to register, and registration closes November 6, 2026. Students can register as a solo competitor or with up to two other students as a team of three. Teammates do not need to all be from the same K12-powered school and can partner with any K12-powered peer.

  1. Complete registration for the K12 Robotics League.
  2. Decide on whether students are competing solo or as a team.
  3. Select an instructor. This can be any adult older than 21 who can help facilitate team meetings and support the team throughout the season. Be sure to ask the individual before listing them as an instructor.
  4. Each participating student will need to purchase a full-year license for the Virtual Robotics Toolkit software ($55).
  5. Gear up!
